Lilijana Homovec is a biology and chemistry teacher. She has worked in various towns across the Primorska region of Slovenia, spending most of her career teaching in her hometown of Črni Vrh. She has always had an affinity for science and enjoyed both teaching it and working with children, but literature has always remained her great passion.

To date, she has published four poetry collections: Tako je (Sanjska knjiga, 2001), O sebi (Založba Bogataj, 2011), Nariši nekaj name (Založba Bogataj, 2022), and Kje se podnevi skrivajo sanje (Where Do Dreams Hide During the Day?, Hirondelle, 2026).

She is also the author of two novels, Nekdo vedno odide prvi (Someone Always Leaves First, Hirondelle, 2024) and V času visokih trav (In the Time of Tall Grasses, Hirondelle, 2025). She also wrote the libretto for the musical Ko Ajda zori(2025).
